Getting over jet lag quicker will give you more time to enjoy your vacation.

While seeing exotic locals can be fun, its not the only way to take a fun vacation. You can find enjoyable places to visit in your home state or one that’s close by. You can support your local economy by traveling close to home. You may be surprised to find a real gem, hiding in your own “backyard”.

Bringing your own bottled water to countries with dubious water supplies is recommended. Most of the drinking water in other countries is not purified and cause a variety of different illnesses. You even need to use bottled water when you brush your teeth. This is one subtle way that tap water can make you sick.

The E-tracking option is available on some travel sites, and can be very helpful. It updates you on the cheapest travel rates. Email alerts will be sent to you if your travel interests has had a price drop or can be found elsewhere at a cheaper price.

Exchanging currency will be very costly if you do it abroad. A better option exists to get your hands on the local currency. Use a bank ATM whenever possible. The ATM and banks offer the going rate of exchange without the fees, and even with the service charge it is usually less expensive than going to the currency exchange.

A long road trip requires a steady stream of music, so don’t forget your best loved tunes on CD or MP3 player to keep you entertained. Often your radio signal will die as you drive from town to town, but you can avoid that by having your own music with you.

Long travel times can lead to frustration and discomfort, so you should make an effort to stretch and move about once an hour, if not more frequently. Having to sit for too long can cause muscle problems, or more dangerously, the formation of blood clots.

When you go on a trip, be sure to put your contact information on an easily noticed spot inside your luggage.
